Sports and remedial massage therapy uses a variety of techniques which are called effleurage, petrissage, friction, neuromuscular, soft tissue, muscle energy and tapotement.
It is a much deeper massage than that of a beauty massage as is its reasoning for doing it is so different. It works on the soft tissues in the body such as muscles, ligaments and tendons, which along with the bones allow the body to move. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to function. Therefore, if they are not working as efficiently, our body will not be able to perform at the same level. By using the above techniques, we are able manipulate and repair the soft tissues in the body.
Many people misunderstand the phrase sports massage and believe that this service is not for them, because they are either not considered sporty or have an injury that was not caused whilst doing a sport. You may suffer with a bad back, tight hamstring or even suffer with cramp. Have you ever suffered with your back, neck or shoulders because of daily activities or simply woke up one morning and felt discomfort?
The cause of your pain and discomfort may be different but in many cases, the effects are the same.
